I’m getting old. Most everyone but teenagers laugh when a early thirty-something makes this claim but it is true. I am getting old. It would be preferable to me to claim ‘maturity’ but let’s face it, admitting to yourself that you don’t heal as fast as you used to and acting accordingly isn’t ‘maturity’.
As such, and it was with much self control, I didn’t do a thing this morning. Right now my achilles feels better then it has in 3 weeks and if it remains that way throughout the day then I’ll pick up the kettlebell(s) again in the morning.
Well, I may give in and do a little bit of skill work tonight
I finally gave in today after a LONG 2.5 week break. I really babied it and so far no more pain then normal. In fact I’d say less then what I’ve been experiencing for this time of day.
Sunday afternoon I could tell that the itch was going to get to me soon so I stopped my cycles of Motrin to monitor my “raw” pain levels better. Monday was discouraging b/c it seemed as though it was the worst day I’d had since the initial injury. And that is even considering I usually only take pain meds every other day (sometimes skipping 2 days at a time.) But yesterday and this morning were very good (considering).
I went very light this morning, which was admittedly very hard to contain my enthusiasm to be back at it. I was still able to work up a decent sweat in about 10 minutes. Again it was difficult but I managed to refrain and stick to my lighter 1 pood kettlebell.
I didn’t count reps and stuck with mostly core stuff with no rest between movements.
And I tried swings with this prison of a boot on and found that I tend to put too much weight on ball of my right foot to compensate. In attempt to help over come this I propped my left knee up on a chair. It didn’t work as I’d hoped. I think with a bit of careful technique work I can work around this though.
My overall routine:
swings, hanging cleans, hanging snatches, military press, around the world, halo’s, kb situps, chest presses, pull overs, and kb russian twists.
It’s good to be back.
Yep, just another blog here. I’d say my intentions are more of a diary slash motivation slash hobby then a traditional blog though.
For some reason, I’ve always wanted a blog (I honestly don’t know why) and while I’ve started a few I’ve always fallen short on posting and let it go rather quickly. Maybe this time will be different.
If you’ve stumbled onto this place and are reading this then I ask for your patience as I set it up. It would be really hard to categorize this right now. As with my previous blog I will use it to track my progress in working out, keep record of things that interest me, stories of my family life and kids, and bits of the amazing journey the Lord has me and my family on.
Time to get organized!
